entertainers' family pool

A mid-seventies brick home had been tastefully renovated inside, but the exterior spaces & finishes were tired & needed rejuvenation. This, a growing family, a little used back yard  & a love of entertaining family & friends meant that a redesign was required.

The dated brick paving was carefuly removed & decking constructed to limit root zone disturbance to the beautiful old existing maple. The decking also provided a series of landings to bridge the height from the home's interior to garden, creates a resort type board walk to the pool, & cover over the tired pattern pave concrete to the 2 x verandahs.

The centre post was removed & a strengthening beam added to the roof over the rear verandah that, with the widened deck area creates a generous dining space

A fullly frameless glass pool fence allows unobstructed  views from the homes interior to the new pool. The pool has wide entry steps & seating bench to cater for young children & seating for parents The feature wall to the rear of the pool houses 3 x water jets that casts shimmers from the pool lights onto the home at night, & provides a soothing sound to the expansive sun-bathing deck adjacent. The wall is set at a height that provides for seating on the upper deck level

An upholstered seat / day-bed has gas strut lift lid to allow for pool toy storage inside . Planting was selected to be low maintenance, & to allow for screening to the rear older home that, accurately, was predicted to be replaced with a 2 storey home in the near future. Extensive lighting was intergrated at the design stage to provide not only amenity to the space, but also to allow the pool to function as a water feature when viewed from inside the home

The owners were so happy with the final result that they asked us to design a new front garden for them as well - see link
