The expat British owners of a substantial allotment were frustrated by the lack of usability in the existing rear garden. The sloping gradient running across the space, a inappropiately placed existing garage, & desire for a pool all were catalysts in the decision for a substantial makeover.
The pool was set at some 600 mm out of natural ground level, & a 20 k litre inground water tank to under the lawn included in the dig & pour operation. The existing deck was retimbered, & extended to the pool over a number of generous width, descending height landings.
A stainless steel framed timber gas strut lift seat to the end of the pool conceals a pool cover & reel, with a recycled timber bollard adjacent supporting an outdoor shower.
Random stone flag paving curves seamlessly into the deck area, glass pool fencing allow unrestricted view lines to pool & garden
A existing period style store / toilet was converted into an understated pavilion & change room, softened from view with a curving batten timber screen
The clients' love of Australian flora was adequately indulged in, the centre piece being an advanced size "bottle" tree, & blended with suitable "mediteranean" plant specimens
The parents love their garden, & the kids enjoy the pool - & the wood fired oven cooked pizzas!
